Naval Bonus Specialist

To get this achievement you need to send your fleet on the missions with the Stars. These can give bonuses in certain area's of your naval map which can increase XP gain and Apexis Crystals for certain amount of time or even give increase in chance of successfully completing missions in that area (i leave that bonus until there is a mission with expert captain or a rare naval mission that i need to complete most of the time). There is currently only one up at any given time on my naval map when it spawns.

If you are trying this in 2024 and beyond, Naval missions have the icon of Compass Rose icon - a 4 pronged star.

Naval bonus missions have a chance to appear it seems around every 3 days or so but can be a full week. I managed to get two in one week. Others mention they are tied to naval blockades - this doesn't seem to be true; naval blockades re spawn every week and I definitely completed two bonus missions within one week. It doesn't appear like completing other missions will affect the spawn rate.

If you are coming back to collect achievements from a long time ago - With the War Within in the war bands feature, achievement progress is now truly account wide for all achievements you can increase the rate you can do this achievement and other garrison achievements if you have multiple alts with level 3 garrisons and the shipyard (Some notes on this below) Others have estimated it will take 25 weeks total, but if you are checking regularly and lucky, about 8 weeks to do all 25, and you will likely get the other shipyard achievements first although for me fleet commander will be the last.

To recap for alts; to get the shipyard on an alt you need a level 3 garrison, Alts require level 40 I believe to unlock the My very own fortress / castle quest chain from Anduin Wrynn at the end of your long table in your garrison hall that goes into Tanaan jungle and, then complete a short quest chain down on the docks, (The ships have an accelerated build rate of a few minutes by the way!)

Upgrading level 2 shipyard, requires you to already have or obtain 1000 garrison resources and complete 15 naval missions; and level 3 requires you have or obtain 2500 garrison resources and complete 25 naval missions. Level 2 unlocks submarines, more ship slots and level 3 unlocks carriers and Blue grade ships by default, with a chance for epic when constructed. The naval mission requirement includes any missions done previously to picking up the quest.

To stack your alt with ships you can use 500 garrison resources to rush shipyard orders buying from Salty Jorren [A] or Kronk Rustspark [H] - but be conscious that you will need to have or obtain 3500 garrison resources to finish the level 2 and level 3 upgrade quests - and that at level 3 shipyard, all ships will be blue quality or higher so you may want to hold off spending your time and resources making ships.

The fastest way to get garrison resources is to visit the garrison chest twice per week, and farm rares. There are 7 rares that give the most - 4 in Tanaan and 3 in Nagrand) ( Full Credit to Born2Slip in the garrison resources wowhead comments for these way points) You will also need Oil from Tanaan jungle to complete missions and so, you can do this at the same time when in Tanaan.

You do not need to upgrade your shipyard to unlock all 4 quadrants, and their blockades, to increase the chance of the naval bonus missions - each quadrant has a 30 minute mission to unlock it from level 1, after completing the short intro quest, unfortunately you won't get a naval bonus mission the first time you go through the intro for naval missions - so as far as I can tell it is not strictly necessary to unlock the level 2 and 3 shipyard but it will help your success chance to finish the missions with blue and epic ships.

I would also look out for the following treasure chest missions as "Exploring The High Seas" and "Charting a course" is a long achievement you can do concurrently.

While completing the treasure chest missions for Exploring the High Seas achievement, don't forget the missions for this achievement have pretty good rewards worth doing a Black Market House NPC in your garrison, a hippo mount, a pet shark, and not one heirloom ring, not two heirloom rings, but three heirloom rings!

The treasure chest missions for this achievement are tough mission to meet the success chance for; for these rare treasure missions specifically I would work towards getting an Epic Battleship, an Epic Battlship, epic transport and epic submarines with human [A] or Pandaren [H] crews, and loading them out with as many of the possible counters from Salty Jorren [A] or Kronk Rustspark [H]. It seems they were created to not be able to counter them fully and human [A] or Pandaren [H] crew helps bring up the success chance. If you want to re-roll a ship, you must delete one first, and, having epic ships with a human [A] or Pandaren [H] crew for me was critical in getting enough success chance for the difficult missions - leveling the ship to epic takes a long time, so farming garrison resources and re-rolling for epic ships with human crews may be the fastest but time intensive way to get epic ships.

Finally, if you have a level 3 mage tower, you may occasionally get a Rush Mission worker order, which I can confirm skips naval missions as well as the regular missions to increase the speed, but, I wouldn't say it's worth it for these Naval Bonus missions.
