For those that read this as offensive, this term is not meant to be so. While noob is often seen as derogatory and says that a person is bad at something, newb or newbie refers to someone being new, not necessarily bad.
Thus, getting your first pet to level 3 would be something for "newbs."
But remember, we were all "newbs" at some point.

All of these leveling achievements, you have to actually level a pet to get them. Capturing a level 3 pet doesn't count. You can, however, capture a level 2 pet, raise it one level and get the achievement.
