I just did Nightmare High Vindicator Vureem as a 237 Havoc Demon Hunter. It was not fun. I get that it's supposed to be a challenge but it's definitely not fun. It's very reminiscent of horrific visions with multiple masks on. If you're a masochist or enjoy repair bills, you'll love it.
There are 3 mechanics that start as soon as you start a nightmare mode hunt. 1) There is a periodic spawn of a copy of yourself that if it reaches you, you take a significant chunk of damage. 2) There is a ground effect that you have to avoid when it shows up or it will take a significant chunk of damage. 3) Astalor will periodically tell you to kill for him and if you don't kill something within a very short window of time, you get a nasty bleed, so you basically have to stay near killable mobs and hope someone else doesn't mow the area down and leave it barren. Because if you die, you lose progress on the hunt! You MAY be able to eat your way through the bleed, but usually not, because chances are high that effect #1 or #2 will spawn on top of it and you'll have to move. I died several times. I wanted to give up and go to sleep but I pushed through to see what the boss fight was like. Spoiler..... it was a cakewalk after what I went through in the wild. Beating Vureem wasn't nearly as hard as getting him alone. He does standard telegraphed and therefore avoidable Paladin mechanics. The first two nightmare mechanics are there but much easier to deal with without the bleed and without random mobs complicating the situation.
Overall, I found the experience to be largely negative and I don't think I'm going to keep doing nightmare mode past the first quest to kill 3 nightmare prey. I'm not even sure I want to finish the quest because the rewards include a nemesis puller for delves. Why?

I just tried it yesterday and I completely agree with everything about Thallia said. It's incredibly tedious, and having to pay for repairs is far too expensive. Blizzard should improve or polish it to better suit the transition from Hard to Nightmare. It makes no sense to include something like this if, in theory, it's meant to help people who don't have much time to play.
As a 239 Havoc DH I tried Nightmare Prey about 6 times and as a DPS class I cannot imagine getting through that DOTs constantly to the final Prey fight. Respect for anybody who finish it as a non Heal/Tank, I had to quit before i smash everythig around me and set myself on fire. Anguishing anger indeed Astalor....
