For people who are new to this game: Reputations are normally associated with a certain faction in the game, like your home city or others that you will find through azeroth. Some factions will require you to do daily quests that reward you with a small amount of reputation. While others require you to wear a tabard that represents that faction wile going through your heroic dungeons or killing mobs

To do this I'd suggest either farming rep by completing starter quests with the alliance/horde faction that you're closest to exalted with, or more practically, a wotlk faction.

If you want to be proactive, the best BC way to do this would be to get exalted with Shattered Sun Offensive by doing the dailies and heroic magister's terrace, or getting exalted with scryer/aldor.
