And the reward for such a feat of strength? Absolutely nothing. It's beyond me why some achievements like this are even made if the only thing you get from them are some achievement points.

25 mounts/pets should reward you with a pet/mount/toy or some such. And 50 mounts/pets should reward you with a title. Something like "Protoformer" or " the Synthesizer" or something else.
