"Aha, I've looked around and it doesn't seem as if anyone's realised the extra fun tactic about this fight!
Regarding catching his hammer, you don't need to be cleansed at all! If he stuns you with his hammer of justice, hover your mouse just in front of your character, and spam right click-When the hammer comes at you, you'll catch it, which is how I believe the fight was meant to be played.
I've yet to get hit by a hammer using this method. Try it out. Eadric is one of my favourite bosses simply because of this!

As of 6.0.2, [spell=66867] is affected by mob level difference damage multiplier, so at level 90+ you can faceroll your way to the achievement with one hammer hit at maximum health.
