Fought this dude on the hill near 2 friendly NPCs. First time somehow ended up getting everyone and their mother involved in the last minute of the fight since I didn't bother clearing the area, so of course I died. Second time, I killed the 3 hostiles nearby (2 next to the friendlies + 1 creature running around), then engaged him in the middle of his patrol so that didn't I aggro the other mobs near the building.
He has some interruptible thorny ability that is annoying for two reasons. 1, it knocks you back repeatedly. 2, if you don't reset your positioning and if you allow yourself to get knocked back, I was eventually in a part of the hill that reset the dude (I was so close too!). His other ability wasn't too bad, though I wasn't paying attention to how much damage it did or not since I could heal myself if needed.
I was going to try to use Hibernate if ish hit the fan, but I ended up not needing to, but if you got any abilities like that you might want to keep in mind just in case.
