What is Grave Moss used for and where can you find it?
First off, why should you care about Grave Moss?
I don't know. You're here aren't you?Gathered from:
-[object=1628] which is found in Duskwood (36), Razorfen Downs (9), Arathi Highlands (7), Wetlands (7), and Hillsbrad Foothills (3)
-Only found in graveyard-like placesWhere in these zones?:
-Duskwood: At Raven Hill in the northwest and Tranquil Gardens Cemetery in the southeast
-Razorfen Downs: A couple different places in the dungeon
-Arathi Highlands: Northeast part of Stromgarde Keep
-Wetlands: Just south of Dun Modr at Ironbeard's Tomb
-Hillsbrad Foothills: Only 3 nodes right in the middle of Ruins of AlteracWhich zone is the best?:
-I have not tried all of them, but Raven Hill is working out pretty well for me. Usually no more than 2-4 nodes up at one time. The only problem is that the respawn time is pretty long so you usually will have to wait for ~5 minutes (I timed it. It is usually 5 minutes, but it can be as low as 3 or as high as 8) for new nodes to spawn. If you really wanted to, you can fly over to Tranquil Gardens Cemetery, but there is never more than 1 node up at a time there, and the nodes have about the same respawn time as Raven Hill. Not to mention you would be flying across Duskwood for only 1 node. I have been able to get around 60 Grave Moss in one day only gathering at Raven Hill. I have found that the best way to farm it is to farm all of the nodes at Raven Hill, go do something else for a bit, and then come back and some nodes should be back up.So, what is it used for?
Milling:
-Golden Pigment (99%)
-Burnt Pigment (25%)Reagent for:
-Shadow Oil (Alchemy 165; requires 2 Grave Moss and 1 Crystal Vial)
-Shadow Oil is a reagent for [item=7374] (Leatherworking 175), [item=4256] (Leatherworking 175), Shadow Crescent Axe (Blacksmithing 200), [item=4323] (Tailoring 170), [item=20833] (Jewelcrafting 125), and Greater Shadow Protection Potion (Alchemy 290)
-Shadow Protection Potion (Alchemy 135; requires 1 Grave Moss, 1Kingsblood, and 1Crystal Vial)
-Shadow Protection Potion is a reagent for [item=7047] (Tailoring 145)What else?
-It looks cool, being a creepy themed herb (is it an herb?) with skulls and whatnot
-You will have almost no competition if you try to sell it on the Auction House (I have no clue who would buy it though)
-EDIT: Surprisingly when I tried to sell it on the Auction House it sold very well. As I said above, there was very little competition and I sold around 100x Grave Moss in just a couple of days. It just sucks to farm it though :(
-EDIT #2: Thanks for all of the upvotes! :)Thanks for reading! Please upvote! :)
Farming for these for Loatheb has made me want to kill myself.
But, if you are looking to farm them, I've found the best place to be in Scarlet Monastery. I'm getting about 3 grave moss and some kingsblood and fadeleaf every time i reset the graveyard.
The skill required to gather Grave Moss has changed from 120 to 105.

Grave Moss in WoW Classic and World of Warcraft: Forever
Grave Moss is in the Classic Era game data, the era World of Warcraft: Forever is built on. Blizzard describes Forever as vanilla World of Warcraft plussed up: its story sits in year one, characters level to 60 and stay there, and it launches November 4, 2026. Blizzard has not said which vanilla items appear in Forever, so nothing here is a Forever claim; it is the Classic Era record for Grave Moss next to the live retail market on this page.
- Is Grave Moss in World of Warcraft: Forever?
- Not confirmed. Blizzard has not published Forever's item list. Grave Moss is a Classic Era item and Forever is built on vanilla World of Warcraft with its story set in year one and a level 60 cap, so this page tracks it. Forever launches November 4, 2026.
- What level is Grave Moss in WoW Classic?
- In Classic Era, Grave Moss is Common quality, item level 24 with no level requirement.
- What does Grave Moss sell for to a vendor in Classic?
- A vendor pays 25c for one Grave Moss in Classic Era.
- What is Grave Moss used for in WoW Classic?
- Grave Moss is a reagent in 3 Classic Era recipes, including Elixir of Coalesced Regret, Shadow Oil and Shadow Protection Potion.
- How much is Grave Moss on the auction house right now?
- 13g 70s on the EU region auction house, on live retail servers, from the latest Blizzard auction house snapshot. Blizzard publishes no Classic Era auction house feed, and Forever has not launched, so those two have no price here yet.
