The best way to obtain these in quantity is to mine+prospect thorium ore. Otherwise, stake out at the AH and be prepared to spend 10g each.

I hate this gem so much. From what i've noticed, it is far and away the most expensive pre-BC gem. Also, next to Aquamarine, it's the one you need most to level Jewelcrafting in the 1-300 range. If you are on a high population server be prepared to dish out 20g+ for one of these.
As the above poster said you're doing yourself a huge favour just grinding Thorium Ore, prospecting it and using the gems out of it if levelling Jewelcrafting.

Was powerleveling JC'ing, found them on the AH at 30g each.
So, I blew about 600g on prospecting Thorium Ore (at 15g/stack), to not get a single one. 25% drop rate my ass. -_-
