Item sold by the following NPC's: Click ME! Hurry!
I belive this will be one of the very common collector item for any Herbalist character, especilly for those few young newly trained in the skill of Herbing.

This will allow the new-herbalist to gather the higher herbs at a faster rate and i also belive that later on as for 85-90 state that we will have high "herb-mobs" or even rare-herbs that might require this shovel to be collected since the normal Herbalist skill maybe wont be high enough even when it is maxed out to 600.
This gives after all +10 herb skill (and i think its amazing!) Total Skill from 600 to 610.

you can also increase your skill further by using [spell=44506] (+5 Mining, Herbalism, Skinning) And you can also get [item=40772] (+10 Herb/Mining/Skinning to NORTHREND) but thats ONE bag space.

I also STRONLY recommend obtain the [item=86566], It will boost your "Gathering" from 3 sec down to 1,65 sec (Very useful if your a Druid's [spell=40120]) WARNING: The gloves can ONLY be used in Pandaria
RARE NAMED: [npc=50332] - Click for location on a Map.

[small]This item CAN be obtain on an level 1 character <If you are summoned by a [class=9] to [zone=5841] and get help by an 85+ player> The camp you need to go to is between (Westwind Rest and Kota BaseCamp <Check "[/small] ? [small] " Mark on the page>) called Fire Camp Ordo[/small]
The best part is "You-dont-need-to-equip-to-use". Downside: -1 bag slot (however), And is "not Soulbound" so you can use on multiply characters.
A "Warning" Note: you cannot store this item in Bags such as [item=54446] - (Herb only bags)

Edit: Added information regarding restriction of the Forager's Gloves (zone restriction). Edit: Corrected "Max" Herbalist skill to 600 (from 625) Edit: Added new information regarding "Herbalist skill" + How to improve higher gathering "skill" Edit: Added Rare mob for Speed-gathering "Gloves", And zones.

Contrary to all the other shovel models, this is not a 2-handed mace, which means clothies, druids, rogues and i believe shamans will at last be able to wield this bad boy and, if they so wish, be the farmer they always wanted to be. Next step : blue overalls !

It is good to note that using this item (in your bag) and having your gloves enchanted will greatly increase your range of herbing. Here are the current ones available: [spell=44506], [spell=13868], and [spell=13617]. [spell=9146] never hurts having either. Good luck and happy herbing!

Etamalgren+10via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Unfortunately, this does -NOT- stack with either the herbalist's gloves or the gatherer/advanced herbalism enchant. +10 is the maximum bonus to herbalism you can get. I haven't tried the gnomish army knife, but I bet they don't stack either.

QuickBASIC+24via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Although these new profession items do not stack with [spell=44506], [spell=13868], or [item=7349], they seem to work in the same way that the racial bonuses do, in that they do not change the potential skillups that you will get. (A mob/node that gives a skillup will not go grey if you put this in your bags). They merely change the upper range of your ability to gather.

This item, was added to the game simply as a helpful boost, Just as the +10 to mining was added to pick axes. It is there to make the gathering "Grind" easier now that characters are leveling out of zones quicker with instance and battleground ques. And @Napish, if you haven't noticed. Profession lvls have been inclining at a +75 per xpac... 375 (BC) 450 (Wrath) 525 (Cata) So it will be 600 for Mists not 625. And blizzard has never made an item that could be made or gathered past the profession cap for a reason, they have already implemented +Professions to certain races, would make it seem like they are cowing you into a decision if they came out with herbs that could only be gotten at 610/615, ect.

trest+5via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Actually, there have been things that required more than the (at the time current) profession skill cap to harvest. The ones I recall were just in heroic dungeons (such as mining the borer boss' corpse in Stonecore). But there have always been ways to exceed the cap to meet that requirement when needed (such as the Gatherer enchant).

EXPERIMENTONGOD+12via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

What this item does is let you gather herbs with a skill requirement up to 10 points above your current level (it doesn't affect when you can train higher skill levels or unlock profession achievements).

Note that this also means that once an herb turns "gray" it will still grant skill ups for another 10 points.

This might sound like a very dumb Question. I just have to ask anyways.

If i am level 600 Herb, is this shovel even useful to me?

like if i am level 600 herb, and im getting 1 to 3 herbs per node.

would this shovel give a chance for me to get 1to3 herbs + 1 herb more as a slight bonus chance.?

or is this shovel simply to just use on lower lvl characters for when they decide to move to new Expansion content?

Nulgar+0via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Indeed. I tossed this when I needed to loot 5(!) Anchor Weeds from a herb, and later visited the Herbalism vendor after scrapping and otherwise clearing out my inventory in Zuldazar, and was very surprised that she did not offer the Spade...

Just a heads up that Huju no longer sells these. I just went to get a Herbalist's spade from him, and this is what he said to me: "<Huju glances warily over his shoulder.> Not now. Things be gettin' pretty hot in here lately." No option to browse his goods or anything. So if you're in Org, go to one of the other trade supplies vendors. I went to Pezik Lockfast Because he's the one nearest Huju and I didn't want to run all around the city just for a spade.

WHICH HERBALIST BOOST IS BEST?

(WARNING! Herbalist's Gloves are Leather, and therefor they can not be equipped by cloth wearers.)

a) I enchanted +5 Herbalist's Gloves with the +2 to Herbalism enchant, and with a Gnomish Army Knife I get a total of +17 to Herbalism.

b) Having the same enchanted herbalist's gloves on, and with the herbalism spade in my bags, I still have +17 herbalism. So there is no change or addition to herb gathering with the spade added to the gloves.

c) The Herbalist's Spade gives +10 to herbalism; however this does not stack with the Gnomish Army Knife, and your skill bonus will remain at 10 despite having both in your bags.

CONCLUSION: Herbalist's Gloves enchanted for +2 herb gathering, coupled with [either] the spade [or] the gnomish army knife will give you a total of +17—this is the best boost to Herbalism.

(NOTE TO TAURENS: The Tauren racial buff is +15 to herb gathering, and faster herb cultivation. When you equip items that raise your herb skill it will appear on your Herbalism leveling bar as a plus to gathering. However the Tauren racial does not appear as a plus on your bar. So everything below applies to all races, and the Tauren racial can be added if you are a Tauren.)

If you want the very best herb bonus (this has not been tested yet), enchant Herbalist's Gloves with the +5 "Enchant Gloves - Advanced Herbalism," or "Enchant Gloves - Gatherer." I haven't tested out the stacking of these yet, but in theory you should end up with +20—but this depends on whether or not Blizzard has allowed them to stack—so far I have not been able to raise herb gathering above +17 on any character. I will update this comment as soon as I have results.

. . .Don't bother trying to farm the recipe Enchant Gloves - Advanced Herbalism. If you read all the way through the comments for recipe drops you will see that some commenters report GMs stating that the recipe is still in the game, though very rare; while one post has a link to a GM conversation screenshot wherein the GM states that the recipe is no longer in the game. The fact that to this day NO ONE has ever posted an experience of this recipe dropping, or from where it drops, I have to conclude that either the few who it has dropped for keep it secret, or they simply don't know what they got (and may have even vendored it), OR the recipe does not drop anymore. However you can buy it on my server right now for 20k—it's hard to know if the seller had it drop for them recently, or had it in their bank for a long time.

Yes the alternative level 15 [item=7349] is sadly only leather so an cloth wont be able to get a use of these, however as i stated in my comment the alternative is to get a high-level help to obtain the [item=86566], However you need to be summoned by a warlock :(
