Large Fang

Friends - by now it has come to no surprise that a vast majority of mob loot tables have changed and/or moved. After one week of solid farming in both EK and K, mobs level 20 - 40, I can safely say Blizzard seems to have drastically altered the low-level drops. So what you thought you knew about the old-world loot tables can be safely chucked out the door .. in many cases. Case in point with Large Fangs. Trying to farm the mobs I thought would drop them, I struck out miserably, except in RFD - yep, as alexdruid said above the fiends did indeed dop a couple. I tried WC, SM, Uldaman, etc, mobs that have dropped Large Fangs in the past ... and nada, zip. So I thought perhaps the mobs that drop the Large Fangs now closely match (+/- 5) the level of the item needing it, eg, [Barbaric Gloves - level 25]. (My thinking here is that Bliz is trying to make it easier to find needed low-level crafting loot and moving away from instance runs ... we just have to find the right mobs.) So I headed out and farmed Highland Fleshstalkers in Arathi. I concentrated on the ones west and south of Boulderfist Hall. Here are the results after 4 hours (very good respawn rate which in some spots shared a spawn timer with the Giant Plains Creeper - sorry not one Spider's Silk):

567 - Medium Leather
386 - Raptor eggs
306 - Heavy Leather
215 - Tiny Raptor Teeth
127 - Raptor Hide
66 - Curved Raptor Talons
48 - Smooth Raptor Skin
48 - Keen Raptor Teeth
25 - Common items (all swords)
16 - Large Fangs
12 - Medium Hide
8 - Uncommon items (all armor)
8 - Heavy Hide
4 - Flecked Raptor Scale

I think it's absolutely ridiculous that this item's drop frequency is so low anymore when it was common before. It's required for a relatively low level leather working pattern as well as other things however, making a material item needed for a LOW LEVEL item pattern virtually impossible to get AT LOW LEVEL is a major fail by Blizzard. Just one of many failures with respect to production professions and compensating gear drops for the huge gaps in level of the patterns/plans. Really, if they are going to have production professions that make gear, they really need to pay attention to details as well as fill in the holes. If they can't do that, then why bother having production professions that make gear? Sorry for the rant but I'm just bloody damned fed up with the inconsistencies.

A really good mob to drop this is Young Murk Thresher :) I killed about ~50 of them and got 6 large fang. They arent aggresive so it make this easier :) They also drop Zesty Clam Meat and are good for skinning ^^

Edit: Just would like to add, that 4 years later this isn't that good source anymore :(
