If you're looking to farm this post-Legion, a good spot is The Broken Shore, just east of Dalaran. You do not have to do any quests to be able to farm there and it's quite compact and the respawn is good. Flying is very beneficial.
Upon mining your first Leystone Ore you will be granted Legion Mining expanding your maximum mining to 800.
As someone who has farmed herbs and ore for years, I can say I'm excited about the personal nodes if this is indeed the case. The fact that they spawn randomly making addons less effective or not at all doesn't bother me. Running a circuit with many other farmers was stressful and hectic. Usually the fastest player (read: DK/Pally) won out unless you were gathering herbs against a Druid (especially a Tauren) then just forget it. Knowing the nodes are mine, I can fly around and farm at a leisurely pace.
