So. Post-Shattering, patch 4.3. I just spent 53 minutes 37 seconds (stopwatch ftw) circling the two Winterfall Totemic/Den Watcher spawn points in Winterspring machine-gun killing these things with my 85 DK. I ended up with 151 Winterfall Spirit Beads, which show a 53% droprate on Wowhead — so I killed roughly 300 bear-people. I did not see a single drop of either Frostsaber pattern. So while I can't say for certain if it's still obtainable in-game, I can suggest that the drop rate is not as generous as other comments from pre-Cataclysm times indicate. =/

I just scored five of these patterns off the AH for 1 gold each. I have to believe it wasn't a random drop, it was bank cleaning. UJ shows a pretty low worldwide availability. My guess - these aren't dropping any more.

Spoke to a GM today as I was planning to hunt for the pattern to get the set for my rogue. He confirmed that the patterns for this, [item=15779] and [item=15761] has been removed from the game.

The only alternative with same skin is [item=10074], unless you know a leatherworker who has the pattern, or are in luck to find the pattern in AH (which I doubt).

Edit: In the light of the pre-patch, the leatherworking interface shows that the pattern is not obtainable, and so the only chance to get your hands on the item made by this is to find a leatherworker who already has it.

I got a GM response on whether this still drops. Didn't come out and confirm it, but said this. I assume it still drops. "I did some poking around, and it does appear that these should still drop according to the comments and article on wowhead. Usually any item that has been removed from the game will have a definite answer on the article itself, and looking here it seems more likely that the item just has a low drop chance."

As of patch 10.1.7 this does indeed drop. THe drop rate might have either been removed during patches 6-10.1.5 or they were so low, they weren't worth farming. So as of 10.1.7 they were either increased to no be in the 1 in 100,000s to 1 in 100s, which is still a buff.

I recently started using ad on <ALL THE THINGS> and mousing over some old patterns in my guild saw this one with red letters towards the middle of the information <This has been removed from the game> The red letter discontinued warning was also on the Pattern: Frostsaber Tunic. It's hard to tell how long they have been there, probably at least 10 years.

The leggings are much easier to get than the gloves. It's likely due to how often Winterfal Den Watchers spawn versus Winterfall Totems spawn. Don't give up, I got 4 of these in 946 kills of Winterfall Den Watchers, Pathfinders, & Totemics.

So while farming Timbermaw Hold rep on an alt for the recipes, I was lucky enough to just have this drop from a Winterfall Den Watcher in Winterspring. The character was a Blacksmith/Miner, so being a Leatherworker definitely isn't necessary. Strangely, it doesn't show as unlearned in the Leatherworking journal. Not sure why that is, but I can confirm it does still drop as of 11.2.7.
