dropped in uldaman 2/25/16
2.3
•All Disarm immunity effects in the game were changed to 50% disarm duration reduction (non stacking).
This just dropped for me in Uldaman. I am not sure of the exact mob it dropped from, as I am looting in huge piles at a time, but it was from one of the trash mobs leading up to the room with Archaedas. Just thought I'd note that, since Uldaman isn't on the loot table.

But brilliant for Fury/Protection warriors, rogues, shamans, and paladins.
I can confirm that it does drop from lesser Darkmoon Prize, just got one on 9/10/2011. Got the lesser block enchant yesterday on 9/9/2011. These lesser Darkmoon Prizes are really no different than finding and opening a large iron bound chest. However, you can grind and farm items for the tickets; therefore farming the Darkmoon Prizes. It's practically impossible to farm chests in the same amount of time. Lesser Darkmoon Prize is definitely the fastest and most efficient way to get this and some other 'rare' low level random world drop recipes.
Just looted this moments ago from a Lesser Darkmoon Prize while on my hunt for the elusive lesser block enchant. No luck on that one, but I did get Plans: Mithril Shield Spike and Schematic: Craftsman's Monocle, along with this plan so I'm happy.
These plans teach you how to make the Plans: Steel Weapon Chain.
The plans are a world drop from creatures of level 35-45.The usefulness of the augment and the rarity of the drop make this a comparatively valuable item.
Yes, it's like a normal enchant that an enchanter would do for you, only a Blacksmith applies it. Be aware though, it IS a permanent enchant effect, which means you can't have a weapon chain AND your nice blood-dripping savagery enchant.
as it says in the the item page - Lesser Darkmoon Prize is no longer available in the game
though it would be good to bring these back for the chance to pick up rare world drop recipes
This item is not specefic to certain mob's loot tables, its a World Drop. Meaning that you could kill anything around level 40 to get it. Personally i got mine while grinding xp outside Booty Bay (From Elder Mistvale Gorillas) and it is not a listed drop rate on any wow site that i have seen. A popular place to farm this is Scarlet Monestary Army and Cathedral from the chest and some of the mobs. Do not get your hopes up to high on snagging this, as its miniscule drop rate can lead to months of farming without yeilding the plan
Dropped 7/29/18 Maraudon last wing, Earth Song Falls off the pack of 4 Diemetradons before you enter the final cave with the Croc boss and Princess Theradras. Was just in there taking screenshots for a guild SS competition..... On my blacksmith no less :)
Q: Can i get it enchanted on my BoP weapon, if im not blacksmither?
(using trade window, like enchanters do maybe?)
As of Patch 3.3.2 this sold on my server for 1500. previous BO was at 2500. might be able to get up to 2k is my guess. It's not useful, it's just so rare that perfectionist blacksmiths want it.
Level 81+ equivalent Plans: Pyrium Weapon Chain.
Got it today from a locked chest in uldaman, 9/14/2013 :)
When you think about it, when you have the decision of making a weapon immune to disarming as opposed to throwing away good skill points to make yourself always immune, I'd sooner go with the chains thank you very much.
Except using a chain means you can't put perfectly good weapon enchants on the weapon, so you're faced with the same problem. For the typical Arms warrior, it's probably not worth losing Savagery (or something like that) over 2 talent points and that extra 4 weapon skill is not entirely worthless. But as said the chains are nice for everyone else.
Time to reconsider, as of patch 2.3 they are redoing the talent for Warriors to do, and I quote: "The Arms talent Weapon Mastery is going to be significantly changed. Instead of providing 50/100% chance to avoid Disarm effects, it is going to reduce the duration of Disarm effects by 25/50%. The reason for this is that having full immunity with this talent really took the idea of disarming out of the game and we want it to be more viable."
I bought this on the auction house for 2500 gold. Well worth it since I have never seen these on the auction house and I play on one of the highest servers in the game. These plans in my opinion of farming blacksmithing recipes is definatly one of the hardest and rarest out there.
Looted today at 18:45 CST from a [npc=12418] in [zone=2557] Gordok Commons.
Dropped in Zul'Farrak from a [object=128308]
Dropped from a Large Solid Chest in Razorfen Downs.
Just dropped from final chest il uldaman on Run 2321
Your best bet is to check out either the official forms for your server and ask who can make a chain for you or check out wowwiki's page for your server and they usually have a listing of people with rare craft recipes. The recipe itself can be found on the AH from time to time but still goes for 200-400g.
Since it is an item now, like Enchanter's Scrolls, you can apply it to your own gear at any time.
I managed to get it from a chest in RFD. Been selling slowly but there selling. And its nice to lvl my skill up.
If you try to swap weapons while disarmed, you get a message saying "you cannot do that while disarmed". Edit: I also would like to add... I miss the immunity to disarm that the weapon chains used to give. As a lower melee toon leveling up, most people cant justify putting enchants on a weapon that you will soon outgrow. Having a weapon with a chain on it was always something to keep in your bag for when you are fighting rogue type mobs that disarm (Stocks, SM, Syndicates in hillsbrad etc). Its very painful for a warrior to be disarmed, as the only thing you can really do is pop intimid
I've just picked it up off the AH. Ofc, it's poss someone had it in their bank for 10 months, but I doubt it.
Dropped from trash mob near Archaedas today
I just got this to drop from [npc=37511].
Dropped off of [npc=4861] in Old Uldaman
there have been 2 on aH in silvermoon for the last month. both are priced around 3400->5000.
Man this is hilarious....way back i wanted this for my rogue, so i looked in the AH and found it for 70s.....I bought it right away and gave it to a friend. talk about lucky
i just sold this on the AH for 300g. i am not a Blacksmither, otherwise i would have used it... i cant believe i have this much $. :)
Does anyone know if you can equip a weapon that has a chain on it while you are already disarmed?
Just finishing running uldaman on my hunter when the rogue in my party won a lockbox that had this in it. I just asked him for it so I could learn it on my warrior smith and he gave it to me for free. =]
There is a beautiful tab on top that says "Dropped by", now if that is to hard for you, there are several people above you said were they got it. On topic, i found this on AH for about 50s, and as Thorandric said, dont sell these, use them, you will make tons of gold from it.
It is useful to L29 and 39 twinks. I've had to get them made in bulk of 10 just to keep them on hand when someone needs them because they are so rare.
Also just got from the same source, final chest.
Does this work on level 85 gear?
I just have to write this even if it will get down-rated. I got it today from AH with 12 gold :)
Sold this for 10 000g on EU servers.
pure collector plans
IMO all tanks should put this on a back up sword for mobs that disarm. That way poor hunters don't pull aggro.
This is good item for PVPers or tanks who have an extra weapon for specific dis-arming mobs.
Magnuson on horde side Altar of Storms can craft
Has anyone seen this since Cataclysm?
It's the rarest blacksmithing plan in the game. The plans sell for 1000g my server but come TBC it will be almost worthless since you can spec 100% to not be disarmed.
(Not all classes can spec to prevent disarming for those classes that cannot [or those speced differently] there this little beauty right here)
I found this recipie off of Elder Mistvale Gorillas in Mistvale Valley in STV
I was not even trying to get it (I did not know it even exsisted until i got it) and it took my between 9 and 10 hours of killing the gorillas...
The drop rate for SM is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY LOW and id say its even lower for things like Elder Mistaves, and this is without doubt one of the hardest to obtain recipies in the game...
Do not auction this item off (the high gold at once may tempt you but DONT!)
Use it... its a virtual gold mine
In less than 2 and a half weeks i made 250g off of tips alone (and another 50-100g from selling the ones i made with my materials)(which imo is excellent expecially for a profession below 250) and i am one of the few if not the only one who posses it on the Ysera Server (Thorandric)...
Point Being its more profitable in the long run to use it than it is to auction the plans themselves (This is a repost of "Steel Weapon Chain")
EDIT: I no longer am a blacksmith, and i cannot make these anymore (sorry for any inconvience)
On another side note the size of your server will affect your income off of this plan (Small; Medium; Large; Full)
Because the more people that play your server the more that you will sell
I just got this last night, it's the second one i've found after playing the game for a year and a half to two years. I found it in a chest in SM, I found my first one in the cave at Kurzens Compound in STV when I was leveling my first character to 60, gave that one away to a friend, this one i'm keeping so I can make Steel Weapon Chains, i'm a happy camper right now. =)
Wow. I had always wanted this plan, and haven't heard of anyone on my server knowing this plan, but got it off of one of the Maurader Scouts outside of Maraudon. No where near the places listed by WoWHead. Always pays to go back to the old world and farm enchanting and tailoring mats for an alt :)
Too bad I'm on the Mac Client, or else I'd have the addon running.
I found it in a chest in SM Cathedral. I didn't realize it was rare... was still fairly new and a guildie was helping me through. I regularly sell them (the chains) for 20-40G. All depends. If I under value them, no one buys them. I've tried to sell them at 10-15G and no one ever buys them. If I put them in at 50G no one buys them. But at 20-40G I usually sell about 2 per day. No one knows to look for them though.
I'm prolly gonna kill myself, this is the first time i havnt checked prices before i put recipes on the AH... i sold it for 10g and it was almost bought the second i put it up.... i hate my life.
Just bought it for 38s LOL))
