Needed for the "Secret of Azeroth" chapter 3. Mentioned on the Secret Finder DC they skyrocket to 20k in AH within minutes... wtf is wrong with yall?
in 2024 for the Pirate Gastronomy quest:
- get a character that moves fast
- go in Dire Maul @ 60:31
- start killing Eldreth Darter around and above the big tree boss (Tendris). There are around 5-6 of them (the locations and number are random)
- go out, reset, get back in and repeatI got lucky and got a flame sack on my 2nd run (it takes around 5 minutes / run)
As of 6.2.2a, the drop table for Small Flame Sac appears to still be broken. Since 6.0.2, I have farmed them from every mob listed by Wowhead and only the [npc=14398] in the Capital Gardens section (west wing) of [zone=2557] drops them. From posts here and on the official forum, it appears that Small Flame Sac were a casualty of the loot table changes in Cata, much the same way that Worn Dragonscale and Green Dragonscale were. Blizz finally remedied the issue with Worn Dragonscale and Green Dragonscale, let's hope they get working on Small Flame Sac.
Edit: As of 10.0.2, killing time between boss spawns of the Drgonflight pre-patch event, I farmed Badlands [npc=2725] until I was cross-eyed and had zero drop from whelps. You'd think out of 1000+ kills, there would have been at least one Small Flame Sac drop, but nope. Not even one.
I went back to the west wing of Dire Maul and spent two hours doing back-to-back runs of the instance. There are between 2 and 7 [npc=14398] per run, on average I saw 1 to 2 Small Flame Sac drop each run, so from 12 runs, I netted 15 Small Flame Sac. I then went to [zone=718] and tried my luck with [npc=5912] (which is a rare that occasionally can appear). After 20 attempts, [npc=5912] appeared and dropped nothing as all. Skinning it netted me a largely useless Deviate Scale.
Edit: As of 11.0.5, killing time between runs while queued for Timewalking, I killed every [npc=5278] in Feralas for the better part of two hours. My best guess is I killed somewhere in the neighborhood of 350 [npc=5278] in that time and had only one Small Flame Sac drop. If I had not been queued, my time would have been far better spent running the west wing of [zone=2557], where at least I never get less than one to drop every run.
