This is the only tanto (or maybe ko-wakizashi) with a black handle currently in game, which makes it very unique for rogues going after a ninja look.

I was farming for a few hours on and off, but without luck. Considering current speed of leveling one shouldn't put much faith in ever seeing one on AH as well. I wonder if it still drops at all.

Useless for a lock. This is only a chance on hit, not a chance on spell hit; and warlocks should NEVER be meleeing when they could be casting a useful spell, pet aggro or not. And if you think it's good to start meleeing with one of these once you've pulled aggro off your pet...don't. Most weapon procs are 5% chance on hit, or 1-6 procs per minute. Useless to even hope it'll happen in a block of time that you could have done something far more useful, like sling another shadowbolt, or cast drain life. You're a lot better off with something that has stats, stam, dmg, int. I'd hazard a guess th

Assasin's Blade is a more easily obtainable version of the same dagger model. It drops from lockboxes from level 20-ish mobs - Worn Lockboxes if I remember correctly. It seems like a quite decent drop rate, as I had two on one trip through Stormwind Stockades.

This model is one of the most authentic rogue weapons if you ask me, and they will be the first thing I'll transmog when patch 4.3 hits!

Pretty sure this is the only tanto style model that has a black grip. Gonna be checking the AH for it until 4.3, hope I dont get gouged too badly ^.^ If you can settle for an off-color go with [item=53300]. Probably easiest of the model to obtain, provided you havn't completed the quest already.

Picked one up after about 30 minutes of farming. I used my hunter to do the dirty work - decent AOE + high mobility seemed like a recipe for success. Obviously, with a .01% drop rate, your mileage is going to vary wildly - in fact, I almost didn't make the last run because I thought I was already up against the reset limit. Thank goodness I did.

As a lock, you're in cloth. Spells are your strength, not melee. The only time you should ever be engaging in melee combat is if you've got a firestone equipped for the +fire dmg bonus. Otherwise, wands alone will get you significantly more dps, and drain life does more damage than either, and helps you live longer (with soul siphon). If you're dependent on a "sometimes" proc (read: 5% rate MAX) from a single item, you're doing something horribly wrong. If this has saved you occasionally, the heal from drain life will have saved you in most other cases. Your pet doesn't need to tank past the

It is indeed the battered junk boxes that I got mine in. RNG can be evil. I might have been lucky as I got two of them, but you might swell have been unbearably unlucky. Noone will ever know :-) Stockades is the most easy place to farm them that I can think of - at least for alliance.

780012+1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

you talking about boxes dropping from mobs? or pickpocketing lockboxes from mobs in the Stockades? Because I just ran 3 full pickpocketing runs in Stockades without a single assassins blade. opened 100+ "Battered Junkbox"

Actually, Jader13 has a point: A tanto (lit. "small sword", nowadays regarded as a dagger or knife) is indeed a traditional samurai weapon. That being said, ninja were pragmatists and they would use any means necessary to achieve their goals, as indicated by mosstone, even by posing as tanto-wielding samurai. On the other hand - contrary to popular culture - there is no historical evidence that ninja preferred to use the ninjato.

Jaredius+0via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

I also ran pickpocket runs through Stockades and never saw any dagger contained in a box. So, I looked the box up on wowhead and Battered Junkboxes do not contain a dagger. You are either confused or wowhead is in error.

Please read again, it says "sometimes" . Another thing, Locks are not ALWAYS able to avoid meleeing. This thing has helped me countless times to avoid death while soloing. As for the stats, you have an offhand option for that. So while the other guy has faded and saved a few precious seconds to regain control over the situation, you go ahead and "sling" your shadowbolt or drain life while still gaining aggro. :)

LOL! at the above comment. Locks are always able to avoid melee !?!? Must not play too much huh? Anyways, this will be my last post on this subject but I'm sure it will not be yours Ive got better things to do like actualy play the game.

Went farming for the Stealthblade today, spent 9 hours in the Sunken Temple and had multiple Epic drops, but no blade. A friend of mine logged on and decided to help me out. Stealthblade dropped on the first group of dragonkin mobs on his first run.

Got one after ~ 1,200 runs in Sunken Temple farming trash elites, it fell off an atal priest, I think.

Also got one for 200g on the AH, go figure.

Anyway, got two in the last three months, the easy way, and the hard way.
