Farming Other Players' Reputations: the Aldor and Scryer Rep-Item Market
Every Aldor and Scryer turn-in item is tradable, and every raider needs the shoulder enchants behind them. Where Fel Armaments, Arcane Tomes, marks and signets drop, what they pay, and how to trade the faction price gap.
The single most reliable demand in The Burning Crusade economy is not a material. It is a shoulder enchant. Every Aldor and Scryer Exalted reputation ends in a Greater Inscription, the shoulder enchant that stays best-in-slot for the rest of the expansion, and every raider on the realm needs one eventually. The reputations accept tradable turn-in items. You see where this goes: farming those items is farming the impatience of every fresh 70 who would rather pay than grind, and the market never closes, because new characters arrive all expansion.
This is where the items drop, what each is worth, and where the actual trade lives.
The six items
| Item | Turn-in | Reputation | Stops counting |
|---|---|---|---|
| 350 each, plus Holy Dust | The Aldor | Never, works to Exalted | |
| 350 each | The Scryers | Never, works to Exalted | |
| 250 per ten | The Aldor | Exalted | |
| 250 per ten | The Scryers | Exalted | |
| 250 per ten | The Aldor | Honored | |
| 250 per ten | The Scryers | Honored |
The Fel Armament carries a second payload that prices it separately: every turn-in also pays Holy Dust, the currency the Aldor inscriber takes for the shoulder enchants themselves. A buyer purchasing Armaments is buying reputation and enchant currency in one item. The Scryers have no equivalent dust, which is one reason the two markets never quite track each other.
Where the items drop
Fel Armaments come from the Legion and Shadow Council demons of Shadowmoon Valley, with Legion Hold the classic contested camp. The drop rate is honestly brutal, the kind that makes a session feel cursed, and the auction price bakes that brutality in. The same mobs drop Marks of Sargeras steadily, so an Armament session is never a zero.
Arcane Tomes come from high-level Blood Elves across Netherstorm and the Shadowmoon ruins, the same territory as the Primal Mana and Primal Shadow circuits. One flight plan, three products: tomes, motes and cloth.
Marks of Sargeras drop from level 67 and up demons everywhere, which makes them the byproduct of half the primal camps in the guide. Marks of Kil'jaeden are the low-level version, dropping from Hellfire and the earlier zones, and their market is leveling alts rather than raiders.
Sunfury Signets come from the Blood Elf packs of Netherstorm, dense around the manaforges. Firewing Signets come from Firewing Point in Terokkar, a compact camp that is also the Terokkar gathering circuit's neighbor.
The market asymmetry, which is the whole trade
Most specs' best shoulder enchant sits with the Aldor. That single fact shapes the entire market: Aldor demand is structural and faction-wide, so Fel Armaments and Marks of Sargeras usually carry the premium, while the Scryers, as the less popular faction, run cheaper for the buyer and thinner for the farmer. Realm by realm this flips occasionally, and the guide-level advice is the same as every market page on this site: check both sides' prices before choosing a camp, because you are not farming reputation, you are farming the gap.
The piggyback nobody should ignore: every Aldor or Scryer turn-in also pays Sha'tar reputation, 175 per big item and 125 per signet or mark, until the top of Friendly. If Sha'tar rewards are on your list, the rep items you were farming for gold anyway carry you most of the way there for free.
The session plans
The market session: Shadowmoon, Legion Hold and the surrounding demon camps, banking Armaments, Sargeras marks, Motes of Shadow from the void creatures, and Netherweave off everything. Every product of that hour has a buyer.
The volume session: Netherstorm, the manaforges and the elf packs, banking Tomes, Sunfury Signets, Motes of Mana, and the gathering routes pickings of the same zone. The same hour, tuned to the Scryer side of the market.
The starter session: Firewing Point in Terokkar for signets, overlevelled and fast, with the Skettis dailies next door to stack on the same flight.
Sell timing and the honest rates
Demand for rep items spikes when new characters hit 70 and when raid tiers push players to finish enchants, which in Anniversary Phase 3 means now: Black Temple attunements and gear upgrades are putting fresh pressure on every reputation in the game. Hourly farming rates are market-driven rather than fixed, and the right mental model is yield per clear, Armaments per hundred demons, times whatever your realm is paying, rather than a promised number. The floor under the whole market is the time cost of the alternative: a buyer who will not farm Legion Hold is pricing your evening for you.
FAQ
Where do Fel Armaments drop?
Legion and Shadow Council demons in Shadowmoon Valley, with Legion Hold the famous camp. The drop rate is low and the auction price reflects it. The same mobs drop Marks of Sargeras at a steadier rate.
Where do Arcane Tomes drop?
High-level Blood Elves, densest in Netherstorm around the manaforges and in the Shadowmoon Valley ruins near the Black Temple approach.
How many Fel Armaments for Exalted?
Roughly 120 from Neutral at 350 reputation each, fewer if you mix in mark turn-ins through the early ranks. Each Armament also pays Holy Dust toward the shoulder enchants.
Are marks and signets worth farming at level 70?
Marks of Sargeras and Sunfury Signets pay to Exalted and ride along free with demon and Blood Elf farming. Marks of Kil'jaeden and Firewing Signets stop at Honored and are really leveling-alt currency.
Which faction's items sell for more?
Usually the Aldor side, because more specs favor the Aldor shoulder enchants, but it varies by realm and phase. The trade is checking both prices and farming whichever gap is wider, the same rule as the primal guide applies to elements.
