Read the price for your region and direction
Decide whether you are spending gold to buy a Token or selling a shop-purchased Token for gold. A lower gold price helps the first goal; a higher gold quote helps the second. A chart cannot make that decision for you.
The Token exchange quotes a price for your game region. Verify the region and the observation time on the tracker, then use the in-game quote for the transaction. A price chart is a record of observations, not a promise that a previous price is still available.
Set a budget instead of trying to call the bottom
For a gold purchase, keep enough reserve for the activities you intend to play. Write down the maximum amount you are comfortable spending and your deadline. Compare the current quote with that plan rather than repeatedly changing the target after every movement.
Illustrative example: with 300,000 gold and a 70,000-gold reserve, your purchase budget is 230,000 gold. That is your limit under those assumptions, regardless of whether a chart looks as if it may rise or fall. These figures are an example, not current Token prices.
Check redemption before buying
Read the available redemption choices and account requirements in the game or Blizzard support. A Token purchased with gold cannot simply be put back on the exchange as a normal resale item. Do not build a flipping plan around buying low and reselling the same Token.
If your objective is covering play time, compare the gold cost with the time you would spend earning it. A farming session is only useful toward that goal if you would also choose to spend your play time that way.
