TheWoWDBJust did this after failing trying it without any armor (didn't try with res sickness which might work). Anyway, used the toy [item=97919], which lowers your damage enough that I could go in fully armored and auto-attack to get the mob down and use the trap.
Tested on a few others before the toy ran out (3 minutes), and light spells were okay- anything strong would still one-shot. You take no damage, it just lowers your output.

Why don't you head on out to Nagrand and give it a try? Word has it that the western plains are home to some of the most magnificent beasts this side of Crystal Lake. I'm going to warn you, though, these beasts are tough. You may want to bring some friends along.
