The chest is protected by a red force field. First, find the key which is in front of the chest. With Myrrit on your shoulder, use 'Burrow' then 'Dig' to find it. Go back to Myrrit's backpack and use 'Burrow' again to go under the green gas up the passageway. At the end of the passageway, put Myrrit on the ground on top the circular gold grate thingy. This disables the force field around the chest. Jump down the hole to the chest and with the key you can now open it.
Hi! It took me a couple of minutes to figure out how to get out of the cave. After putting Myrrit down on the pressure plate, one has to pick him back up again in order to get the ladder-button that is 'escape the dig'. Just in case someone has this trouble as I did!
