TheWoWDBThere is no follow-up, so you are not *forced* to complete it to continue any quest line. The only other thing I got was 100 'Rep' with the Archivists' Codex, so its honestly not a big of a deal if you put this off until you get the perfect gear to upgrade. Also, you can spend the 750 to upgrade a level 2 to a level 3 and it counts for completion. (That's what i did)

Kind of annoying that this forces you to burn 250 Cataloged Research to upgrade a 200 level item to 207 when I am already in all 220 and 226 gear. Would rather just hang onto that for later.
yep looks like u have to use 250 Cataloged Researched "the currency" and upgrade any item to complete quest.
