TheWoWDBWell, you don't have to travel that far into Shadowmoon Valley.
As the quest text states that the Monstrous Felblood Snapper "only thrives in the waters of Hellfire Peninsula and Shadowmoon Valley", you only have to be in one of these zones to catch this little fellow.
Therefore you can journey straight from Old Man Barlo in Terokkar Forrest to Shadowmoon Valley and stop at the river south-east of the Bonechewer Ruins.
Make sure you are standing on the eastern riverbank in Shadowmoon Valley [map], cast your line and make a good catch!It is also a quite peaceful area with only some neutral Shadowwing Owls around.
From my experience it is not necessary to use a lure, I usually get them within 1-4 casts, although this statement is based on a 375+35 fishing skill, you may use a lure to prevent escaping fishes.

For those of you who got this quest and immediately thought "But there's nowhere to fish in SMV and Hellfire" here's a tip.
There is only one area to fish in in Hellfire, right around the elite in the Pools of Vision. The area you can fish in in SMV is over by Coilskar Cistern.
I chose Hellfire because it's closer, and got it on my second cast.
They can be fished in Shadowmoon Village at the Magma Fields, 31. 37 to be exact. Got mine after 6 casts.
However, I couldn't land a cast at any of the water pools at Coilskar Cistern due to water being too shallow.

Description
This old man is going hunting soon. I'm gonna take down a mammoth shark off the coast of Azshara. The thing is, I need a toxin that'll stay on a spear tip while it's underwater. To make that kind of stuff, I need the glands from a poisonous fish: the felblood snapper. Such a vile fish only thrives in the waters of Hellfire Peninsula and Shadowmoon Valley. Bring me back a whopper and I'll be a happy old man.
