TheWoWDBSome quite extensive testing on PTRs showed that the World's Largest Mudfish could only be caught from Lake Sunspring and Skysong Lake. Further, the bobber actually has to land where the lake is called Sunspring or Skysong: Sometimes it looks like you are fishing from the correct lake, but you are actually fishing in "Nagrand" or "Garadar". Both lakes currently require an effective fishing skill of 395 to cast, 490 to stop get-aways.

OK, this is silly, but I tried 89 casts at the Sunspring Lake pier, 12 casts on the small island in Skysong Lake and then thought, "Back in Vanilla we used to be able to do this pretty easily at about 62, 35 on the Garadar side of Skysong Lake."
3rd cast. I don't mean to imply anything causal here, but keep that spot in mind. In the old days, we never went anywhere else and it still seems capable of delivering the prize. No guarantees, of course.
BTW make sure that it says the name of the lake in the little box above your map. Even if you are fishing in that body of water, but not actually in that part of the zone, you won't catch it.

Figluster's mudfish is a surprisingly quick bottom feeder found in the waters of Nagrand. They grow their entire lives and are well known as fighters. Years ago, I caught what I'm certain was the world's biggest mudfish... until it snapped my line and escaped. A fisherman of your caliber doesn't need to be told what to do--your destiny awaits in the lakes of Nagrand.
