TheWoWDBCan confirm that NPC Johnny Awesome may disappear for a short time, but will reappear again. I continued working on other quests and returned after about an hour or two and he was back in my Tavern at my Garrison. As previously mentioned, if you upgraded your Garrison (like I did) then your question mark on the map may indicate the center point which is by your fire pit, but you will need to wait until Johnny Awesome returns again to turn this in. Don't abandon your quest. I'm a level 60 in 2021 with a level 3 Garrison and had no issues completing this.

Sounds like someone forgot to upgrade from timeless isle gear
It's a daily quest from the tavern. If cannot turn in the quest it might be that you are just upgrading the tavern. Then the question mark is right in the center of your garrison map. (alliance)

Now THIS is a savage land worthy of my level of heroism! Oh, hello, I did not see you standing there, staring at me. Perhaps you have noticed that every piece of my armor is an ancient relic, forgotten by time. As you have properly surmised, an adventurer of my stature does not have time to complete the menial requests I am given daily. I must remain here, yelling aloud to the trade district so that others may witness my heroicness and be inspired. Today I require a Nightmare Bell, do find one.

Auchindoun is the holy mausoleum of the draenei, a sanctum of the Light in which the spirits of the dead find respite. The crystalline structure also serves to protect and shield draenei souls from their eternal enemies: the Burning Legion, who hunger eternally for draenei spirits.
