TheWoWDBOf note for xmog collectors: The caster staff is the only weapon from this quest that has a unique model - all of the others are duplicated somewhere else if you're willing to farm/grind for them.
All of the weapons are of their respective "green" skin set.
The polearm has many duplicates, quite a few are green.
The 1H Agi mace has many duplicates, but you'd have to farm for the green one.
The 1H Int mace has many duplicates, but the green one is a gold challenge-mode reward.The 2H axe. bow, dagger, and 1H axe all have duplicates, but this quest is the only way to get the green variant - the 2H axe and bow have particularly nice skins - the 2H axe looks positively "fel-infused", and the bow has green gemstones set into the eyes and unique purple wraps on the bowstaves.

I struggled with this on my mage. If you get tired and leave just speak to the Lt. again in your Garrison. He will return you to the Proving Grounds for another try.
The weapons also have a chance to receive Rare Upgrade, upgrading their item level by 10.
Which is weird, because the weapons are already Rare by default, and I got Rare Upgrade on my bow when I turned the quest in, which increased its item level to 620.
It would seem like Epic Upgrade is actually +20, and not +10.
