The Rest is History is a quest for level 32-35. It rewards 1 reward item, 1 reputation reward, 4,800 experience and money.
In her memories, Leyara spoke of Malfurion. The tragedies of her past - at least, in her opinion - are largely due to his actions.
Malfurion must remember Leyara from before she became a Druid of the Flame. You resolve to bring the locket to him in the Firelands. Hopefully he can answer any remaining questions.

I found Malfurion's behavior during this whole questline bizarre. First, he needs to make "one preparation" before you go kill Leyara but it's mysterious what that preparation is. Then, after you kill her, he spends a rather long time kneeling by her body. There is no sob emote or any words spoken while he's doing that. It's mysterious. Then, at the end, when you confront him he is tight-lipped and doesn't acknowledge anything about her other than that he knew her.
In Shadowglen there is now a conversation between two Night Elves remarking on how Malfurion's sudden return and quick marriage is "quite suspicious". I'm beginning to think so too. Maybe the Emerald Dream has shaped him in some way. I wonder what Blizzard has cooking in the oven!
The buff lasts for
510 minutes with a 60 minute CD on the item.edit: removed nearly all of this post because the information is now displayed by Wowhead. As a side note, you must be level 85 in order to do this quest; 85 is the current level cap so you will not receive experience.
