TheWoWDBOK, incase anyone is a Class A blonde like me...You have to kill the huge fire elemental (Obsidian Slaglord, I think) that you see fighting Malfurion and the other Druids when you first come through the portal. Watch out for the little fire pools he summons under your feet...Those turn into spikes that WILL kill you if you don't keep moving when he's casting that spell.
After you kill the guy, the quest will complete and Malfurion will run off into the little alcove. Cue cutscene.

Description
There will be time to mourn for Hamuul later. His is the first of many inevitable casualties in this war.... but our attack cannot wait, nor should the momentum we have gained over the last several days be wasted. The portal atop Nordune Ridge is now open. Our reinforcements are prepared, and they await only my order to pass through the portal. We will meet again on the other side of the portal. Once there, we shall ensure that our foothold is secure.
