Welcome to the City of Smells...this quest really stinks! If it bugs out on you, like it did for me, and there are no dirt piles to dig in but you haven't gotten credit for "Trade with the Sniffenseeker", you will sadly have to drop the quest and do it again. I finally did this, and I was able to complete it on that character.
