No, you must buy your Apprentice Riding Skill in order to get every other riding skill (including flying).
Apprentice Riding (60%) -> Journeyman Riding (100%) -> Expert Riding (60% Flying) -> Artisan Riding (280% Flying, 100% Land)
A druid needs to buy Apprentice and Journeyman Riding skill to get Expert riding skill for free.

Exalted might take some extra work, but humans can easily get to revered by 30.
Actually, paladins only have 1 school of spells. All of their retribution tree and protection tree are still under holy. So they can't cast any heals, any buffs, any seals, nor can they bubble, if they're counterspelled. Yay class imbalances!
Just got to level 20 with my lock - normal little overlay came up and everything - but I learned apprentice riding as soon as I dinged....at no cost
Even though you will be getting travel form and a mount at the same time. Travel form will not become useless. While being one of the strongest pvp spells out there, with the ability to remove snares and escape enemies. It is also superior to a mount for running short distances.
Dinged 20 on my Nelf Druid while questing on Bloodmyst, flew to Exodar and was able to train riding from the Draenei trainer - and immediately mount the Winterspring Frostsaber an earlier character had earned.
You need exalted with the trainer's faction to learn riding from a trainer other than your respective race trainer.
60% flying now changed to 150%
No mail.
Since Worgen get this automatically at 20, if you're a Worgen and you hit 20 while in a Battleground you get to use your mount for the rest of the BG. Pretty OP in WSG
Training costs are actually 90g.

Was this meant to imply that you don't need to buy 75 skill riding before getting 150 riding skill? I'm a druid, so if I can avoid paying for level 75 skill I would rather just buy 150 skill at 60 without ever buying 75 skill if thats possible.
Not honored with home faction = 90g training
Honored with home faction = 81g trainingTo get the mount's of other faction's you must be exaulted with them.
On the PTR, at revered reputation the riding skill costs 29g 75s
Mounts are 8g 50s
So roughly 38g 25s for both.
Horde have it easy, they possibly get to Gnomer faster than alliance via teleporting at booty bay.
I could be wrong on this, but I believe the text for this is incorrect on Wowhead.
"Players are not required to train Riding at their respective race's trainer"
The way I interpret the above is that I should be able to learn apprentice riding from any race in my faction. As a 29 dwarf, I cannot train apprentice riding at Eastvale (human riding trainers). I believe you are still required to learn this from your respective (racial) trainers.
Most likely because warlocks and paladins get their class mount at level 20. Same happens for all worgens as they level to 20 and get Running Wild.
Reins of the Winterspring Frostsaber only requires 75 riding skill, while being a 100% mount. I discovered it today.
I just hit Level 20 in a dungeon and had Apprentice Riding upon leaving it, never having to purchase it. Mayhaps the newest patch changed how it works?
What class? See comments above.
Does anyone know if there is a way to check via script if a character has this skill or not?
I have been scanning the wow api for hours and can't find anything....
It's for an addon I'm working on...
For the people searching for this...
The 280% flight speed, Artisan Riding, has been removed in the latest Shadowlands. These are the only riding available in the game.

Quickest way to get expelled from the Kirin-tor
You bring up an interesting point. Why even have "points" for riding. Your riding skill should just reflect Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert, Artisan, etc.. Blizzard should change this imo. It would be kind of funny to see "Your riding skill has gone up 1 point and is now 76" as you ride through a zone.
I think the training price decreases as your reputation with that faction increases
it is actually 81g for the training.
Yea, travel form is still very useful at lvl 80. In PvP, as a balance druid i use it in caster battles (when a caster cast a long cast-time spell, use this almost at the end of the cast to jump behind him and then wrath-nuke :) ).
I'm so glad im a warlock XD
don't see why there is no tab "taught by"
I dont understand i trained the giddy up thing but how do i get the mount?
any faction can be revered at level 30, not just humans.
Apprentice Riding now requires level 10 and costs 9 silver.
Does anyone know how much experience you get when you complete Apprentice Riding?
Especially for a level 29.
But it still requires level 40, so its not so good.. its 100g and journeyman and normal fast mount =60g
Cool bit is that if a warlock picks up his free felsteed, they could use any 60% mount they wanted without re-buying this.
Just in case you hate what I think is the coolest mount... Except for the Dreadsteed....
At level 40, warlocks get this skill for free when purchasing the Summon Felsteed spell.
Paladins also get it free when they learn Summon Warhorse.
Patch 2.4.3 will definitely have a significant impact on the 30-39 bracket. This will also help getting around to places like SM and RFD for Alliance, or Gnomer for the early 30 Horde.
Fun bug for hunters.
If you enter the queue (something) for any random BG while mounted (can be done via entering your Honor Panel by a hotkey, default H, and selecting Battlegrounds.) and then enter it, when you exit you will automatically mount but you will still have your pet out. I think you have to have your pet out in the BG too.
Wlocks need pay just 6,70g (or someting like that i dont remember anymore) you get skill and mount free :)) so make wlock alt if you do alt or get wlock main...
I think the gold cost stays the same, or goes to 60g, from what I heard. Though mount at 30 makes me happy, no more being run down in Stranglethorn by nasty lvl 40s and their mounts...lvl 60+ on the other hand...cant win em all though. Now give locks a summonable demonic flying mount!
As of Patch 2.4.3 Mount training costs a mere 35 gold and requires level 30. Mount cost has yet to be changed. For further notice on Patch 2.4.3 you can click this link. http://www.wowhead.com/?patchnotes=2.4.3-ptr
can any1 link me the mounts plz
they said that all realms will be down june 24th 2008 does that mean the realms will be downloading the 2.4.3 patchs?
Now mounts are available at lvl 30...
Training costs 35g!!!!
With Patch 2.4.3... ITS NICE
Paladings mount quest is available at lvl 30 too ofc
