TheWoWDBInformation was kinda scarce on this one, and it has confused me a couple of times.
When you overload, four herbs will spawn - just pick the odd one out. I think you can do it three times total.

I can never get the 4th one, after at least a dozen tries. Maybe that's why I never bother empowering anything besides irradiated.

Overloading sporefused herbs will cause a reaction with the magical spores that generates a strange phenomenon.
Numerous herbs will appear nearby, and gathering the correct one will actually give real reagents and materials to the herbalist. Gathering the wrong herbs however will disorient the herbalist and hurt them.
