HunterI never had a problem getting a cat out of Prowl before Cata, but now, I have.... Finally got it! I right clicked on the Prowl button to take off the auto cast, (tried to left click on it to turn it off, but that didn't work) then had him attack something and when he was done, Prowl was off. So, in my experience, you do have to have your pet attack something to take off Prowl post-Cata

By using the Night Elf racial ability, Shadowmeld, alliance night elf hunters can stealth themselves, and with prowl they can stealth their pet. An extremely effective pvp combination when defending nodes in Arathi Basin, Alterac Valley, Isle of Conquest, and other such battlegrounds.
Potential attackers will approach the node expecting it to be empty only to have a hunter and pet attack on them as they go for the flag.
Tooltip
Puts your pet in stealth mode, but slows its movement speed by 50%. The first attack from stealth receives a 20% bonus to damage. Lasts until cancelled.
