WoW Forever Hunter Guide

Blizzard has not published a Hunter deep dive, so the official record is the beta development notes. The client shows the bigger picture: new capstones in all three trees, a hawk summon in Beast Mastery, Survival built around melee bleeds, and Humans can now be Hunters.

What changed for the Hunter in Forever

Blizzard has not published a Hunter deep dive. These are the Hunter changes from the September 13 deep dive recap and the beta development notes (September 24 and October 1 updates). Each line links to its source.

What the beta client shows

Our own read of the client tables. Blizzard has not posted these, so treat them as beta data that can change.

  • Multi-Shot is a single trainer rank in the beta (five ranks in Classic Era), and Scorpid Sting is one rank (four in Era). Aspect of the Beast goes the other way: four ranks, from level 30.
  • Screech is gone from the list and Demoralizing Screech is new at the same level, 8. Its tooltip hits one enemy and lowers the Attack Power of every enemy in melee range.
  • Trueshot Aura is the Marksmanship 16-point talent and can be taken from level 25 (40 in Era), with five ranks.
  • Wyvern Sting is not in the beta class list. Lacerate, a bleed, is a trainer spell from 30. Trickster's Dance is new at 20 and has no tooltip text in the client yet.

Hunter talent trees in the beta

The Hunter has three trees and 51 talent points at level 60, one per level from 10. Each tree opens a new row every 5 points. The 1-point picks behind the 10, 15, 20 and 30 point gates are the milestones Blizzard talks about: the 11, 16, 21 and 31 point talents. [Blizzard, September 30, 2026] The text below is the client's own tooltip at full rank, from build 1.60.1.70205. Plan a build in the Hunter talent calculator.

Beast Mastery

The pet tree. Its milestones are Bestial Swiftness, the new Summon Hawk (a hawk that attacks your target for 18 seconds, sharing a cooldown with Arcane Shot), Intimidation and Bestial Wrath. The tree has 16 talents worth 44 ranks; the first row is Deadly Aspects, Endurance Training.

PointMilestone talentWhat it does (client text)
11Bestial SwiftnessIncreases the movement speed of your pets by 30%.
16Summon HawkCommand a hawk to dive-bomb your targeted enemy, dealing Physical damage and continuing its assault for 18 sec. Only 2 hawks can be active at once. Summon Hawk shares its cooldown with Arcane Shot.
21IntimidationCommand your pet to Stun the target for 3 sec on its next successful attack, which also gains 100% increased critical strike chance. Generates high threat.
31Bestial WrathSend your pet into a rage causing 50% additional damage for 18 sec. While enraged, the beast does not feel pity or remorse or fear and it cannot be stopped unless killed.

Marksmanship

The ranged tree. Its milestones are Lone Wolf (20% more damage with no pet out), Trueshot Aura, Scatter Shot and the new Sniper Shot. The tree has 16 talents worth 52 ranks; the first row is Hawk Eye, Improved Concussive Shot, Lethal Attacks.

PointMilestone talentWhat it does (client text)
11Lone WolfYou deal 20% increased damage with all attacks while you do not have an active pet.
16Trueshot AuraIncreases the Ranged Attack Power of party members within 45 yds by 30.
21Scatter ShotA short-range shot that deals 50% weapon damage and disorients the target for 4 sec. Any damage caused will remove the effect. Turns off your attack when used.
31Sniper ShotA long-range shot that deals ranged damage plus 160 and increases the range of your next 3 Shots by 10 yards for 10 sec.

Survival

The melee and utility tree. Its milestones are Deterrence, Counterattack, the new Strider Kick and Lacerating Strikes, which makes Mongoose Bite leave a bleed. The tree has 18 talents worth 52 ranks; the first row is Improved Tracking, Deflection.

PointMilestone talentWhat it does (client text)
11DeterrenceWhen activated, increases your Dodge and Parry chance by 25% for 10 sec.
16CounterattackA strike that becomes active after parrying an opponent's attack. This attack deals 50% weapon damage plus 26 and immobilizes the target for 5 sec. Counterattack cannot be blocked, dodged, or parried.
21Strider KickA powerful kick that deals 100% melee weapon damage and increases movement speed by 30% for 3 sec.
31Lacerating StrikesYour Mongoose Bite also causes the target to Bleed for damage equal to 40% of the damage done by Mongoose Bite over 21 sec

Changed between beta builds

We hold 5 snapshots of the Hunter trees (70009, 70058, 70124, 70170, 70205). These are the differences, oldest first. Wording-only fixes are left out.

  • 70124 to 70170: Sniper Shot (Marksmanship) changed from "A steady snipe that increases ranged damage by 160." to "A long-range shot that deals ranged damage plus 160 and increases the range of your next 3 Shots by 10 yards for 10 sec."; Trueshot Aura (Marksmanship) changed from "Increases the Ranged Attack Power of party members within 45 yards by 30. Lasts 30 min." to "Increases the Ranged Attack Power of party members within 45 yds by 30."; Deflection (Survival) changed from "Increases your Parry chance by 10%." to "Increases your Parry chance by 5%."; Lacerating Strikes (Survival) changed from "Your Mongoose Bite also causes the target to Bleed for damage over 21 sec equal to 40% of the damage done by Mongoose Bite." to "Your Mongoose Bite also causes the target to Bleed for damage equal to 40% of the damage done by Mongoose Bite over 21 sec".

Changes for every class

These apply to every class, so they change how you play a Hunter too.

  • Talents open at level 10 and use the same number of rows as Classic. The 1-point milestone talents at 11, 21 and 31 points in a tree are joined by a new 16-point milestone. [Blizzard, September 30, 2026]
  • Dual Specialization unlocks at level 40. Talents, including Legacy talents, are changed at a class trainer in a major city. [Blizzard, September 30, 2026]
  • Talents that used to hand out a key group buff are now baseline: Divine Spirit (Priest), Blessing of Kings (Paladin) and Improved Mark of the Wild (Druid). [Blizzard, September 13, 2026]
  • Spell, melee and ranged hit chance are one stat now, and so are spell, melee and ranged critical strike chance. [Blizzard, September 13, 2026]
  • Bonus healing also gives one third as much bonus damage, so healers are not stuck when questing. [Blizzard, September 13, 2026]
  • Weapon skill works as before, but items give less of it per item. Some items add a new stat that lowers the chance for your attacks to be dodged or parried, and caster weapons carry spell damage and healing. [Blizzard, September 13, 2026]
  • Riding follows the Burning Crusade model: the cost moves into riding training and you get a mount when you learn the skill. [Blizzard, September 13, 2026]
  • Each race now has two active and two passive racial abilities, tuned to give a similar amount of offensive power. [Blizzard, September 13, 2026]

Hunter spells by level, 1 to 30

Every Hunter spell rank the beta client (1.60.1.70205) lists from level 1 to 30, the level cap of the beta. Read from the client's SkillLineAbility and SpellLevels tables on the class skill lines. Spells marked talent need the talent first; the level is the level the client requires. Training costs are set on the server and are not in the client.

Hunter spells changed from Classic Era

The beta class spell list (1.60.1.70205) compared with Classic Era (1.15.9.70003), levels 2 to 60, matched by spell name. A renamed spell shows up once as removed and once as new. Passive form auras and helper records are left out.

Races that can be a Hunter

The beta client (1.60.1.70170) allows 8 races to be a Hunter. "New" means the pair is not in the Classic Era client (1.15.9.69722). Blizzard can still switch a pair off on its servers. All pairs are on the races and classes page.

Racial notes from Blizzard

Every race has two active and two passive racials in Forever. [Blizzard, September 13, 2026] Blizzard has described these so far:

  • Dwarf: Stoneform focuses on removing and blocking Bleeds, Poisons and Diseases, and its defensive bonus now lowers physical damage taken. Find Treasure can stay on with other tracking. Mace Specialization raises critical strike chance with all spells and abilities while a mace is equipped. Big Game Hunter adds damage against Beasts. [Blizzard, September 13, 2026]
  • Human: Will to Survive got a new visual, matching Dispel Magic. [Blizzard blue post, September 24, 2026]

Not known yet

We do not publish guesses. These wait for launch or for Blizzard to say more:

  • Stat priorities. Itemization is still moving in the beta, and Blizzard has posted no stat weights.
  • Best in slot lists. The two new raids in the client (Hyjal Summit and Barrow Deeps) have encounter names but no loot data yet.
  • Raid roles and group makeup at 60. The beta stops at level 30.
  • Training costs. Trainer prices are set on the server and are not in the client files.
  • Pet family changes beyond the notes. The client lists the families you can tame on the creature families page.
