Also a possible reference to "Gone Fishin'," a retro sci-fi fantasy ninja western I just made up. Before you propose one of these possible references, think if maybe the the allusion and it's source both derive from the same origin, like maybe the expression: "Gone fishin'," which dates at least to the 1930's according to my exhaustive research of old cartoons.
It's probably much older than that, and I wouldn't be surprised if it has been around since the dawn of fishing. (supplied of course they spoke English...) I could say that "What's Up?" is from The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air simply because it's an idiom that is used by Will Smith, but that doesn't make it true.
