Outland Racing Completionist: Gold

Don’t make the same mistake as me : if you plan to do the achievement, take the quest The Outland Cup Circuit first.

I was surprised to see so much negativity here. I thought these were some of the best legacy races to have been released. Aside from being a nice trip back to Outland, they make use of the inherent 3d layout of the zones, unlike the very pancake races of EK and Kalimdor.

The reverse races were less fun, and did not feel like they put as much thought into them. I can't think of any Advanced race that gave me repeated trouble, but many of the reverse races were difficult, and not in a fun way.

None of these comments apply to Razorthorn Rise though... that race can die in a fire, and I hope the thorns burn down with it.

So after finishing all the races, I've found that one specific race, while not hard, can waste a lot of time -- Razorthorn Rise Rush.

The reason is in the internal mechanic of Dragonriding, which doesn't mesh good with high-ping connections. And by that I mean 200-300 ms ping. Thing is, when you change the zones, Dragonriding usually lags a tiny bit, depending on server load. It might take from almost unnoticeable period of time to upwards of three seconds. It results in Vigor generation being held for that moment of time, or moves lagging. For example, when you hit the Skyward Ascent at that moment, you might get lagged from 1 to 3 seconds, with your mount not reacting to it... and then the action goes through and you get thrown off-course. This is completely random. Usually it's not a problem in other races, because sometimes you also chang zones on simpler sections.

The issue with Razorthorn Rise Rush here is that this race involves multiple zone changes between Hellfire and Terokkar right on steep turns, so you might get hit by that even if you flew the rest of the race just right. For example, the Advanced race has one steep rise near the end, right at the zone change, where you need to hit the Skyward Ascent. If it does lag here, the attempt is toast.

What to do here? Honestly, not much. Just try, try and try again until the stars align and you don't get lagged.
