The upper chambers of the Tomb of Sargeras were once a place of worship to Elune. Since the Legion's invasion, fel minions have desecrated this holy place, twisting it into their own image. Now, this site will host a battle that could turn the tide of the invasion. While the Armies of Legionfall engage the fel army directly, a small group of heroes infiltrates the upper reaches of the cathedral in a desperate hope to return the Aegis of Aggramar to its resting place.

Encounters
Mephistroth
Mephistroth orchestrates the Legion's invasion from the Broken Shores. With the forces of Azeroth pushing against his front line, Mephistroth has fallen back to the Cathedral of Eternal Night, where he will employ all his cunning to ensure the heroes fail in securing the Aegis of Agrammar.
Abilities & Strategy
Overview
Mephistroth uses shadow magic to attack the party until he reaches 100% energy. Once his energy is full, Mephistroth fades away and strikes at the heroes from the shadows. During this, Illidan must be protected with the Aegis of Aggramar long enough for him to pull the dreadlord back into the light. On Mythic difficulty, fel bats fly in through the windows during Shadow Fade and assault the heroes with Fel Blaze.
Damage Dealers
- Move away from your allies when targeted by Demonic Upheaval.
- Defeat Shadows of Mephistroth during Shadow Fade.
Healers
- Allies take increasing damage from Creeping Shadows while Mephistroth is hidden.
Tanks
- Carrion Swarm is a heavy attack that needs to be faced away from the party.
- During Shadow Fade, face the Aegis of Agrammar towards Shadows Orbs to protect Illidan.

With the Aegis of Aggramar socketed back into its cradle, Domatrax leads an onslaught of demons to destroy the relic.
Abilities & Strategy
Overview
Upon reaching 90% and 50% health, the Fel Lord opens up additonal portals to allow greater numbers of the Legion's soldiers to pour into the tomb. The Aegis of Aggramar provides protection against the Legion's attacks, but if drained of all its energy, this aura will fall. On Mythic difficulty, if the Fel Portal Guardians are not destroyed within a specific time, an overfiend emerges.
Damage Dealers
- Destroy Fel Portal Guardians to stop the flow of demons.
- Destroy Fel Portal Guardians before they can complete Approaching Doom.
Healers
- The Aegis' protection aura reduces damage from Choatic Energy.
Tanks
- Turn the Fel Lord away from the party and the Aegis to avoid having them get hit with Felsoul Cleave.
- At 25% health, Domatrax goes into a Frenzy.

This Fel Lord leads the onslaught against the Aegis of Aggramar.

Defeat these guardians to close their portals and prevent additional demons from entering the battle.

Stage Two: The Burning Hordes
Upon reaching 50% health, Domatrax tears open portals summoning felguard into the battle. On Mythic difficulty, shivan emerge from the portals.

Agronox
This ancient served the night elves priestesses of the Temple of Elune, tending the beautiful Hanging Gardens. But after the malevolence of the Legion infected the Cathedral, the guardian absorbed fel energy through his roots. Now the twisted Agronox spreads corruption throughout the sanctuary he once protected, believing he has finally achieved his ideal state.
Abilities & Strategy
Overview
Agronox corrupts the garden he once tended and turns it against players. Quickly defeat his Lasher minions to avoid being overwhelmed. Run from Choking Vines before you are strangled. Poisonous Spores inflict increasing amounts of damage over time. On Mythic difficulty, Agronox summons Nourishing Lashers and restores his health via Nature's Infusion.
Damage Dealers
- Defeat Fulminating Lashers and Succulent Lashers quickly, to keep the party from being overrun.
- Avoid standing too close to allies when Floral Fulmination is imminent.
Healers
- Players struck by Floral Fulmination take significant damage.
- Avoid standing too close to allies when Floral Fulmination is imminent.
Tanks
- Position Succulent Lashers such that Toxic Sap can be avoided by party members.
- Defeat Fulminating Lashers and Succulent Lashers quickly, to keep the party from being overrun.

Thrashbite the Scornful
Smashspite's detestable brother, Thrashbite, has been dispatched to wipe out the mortals entering the cathedral's grand library. The dimwitted mo'arg lacks any respect for knowledge or learning, feeling petty satisfaction as he crashes through ancient artifacts and tramples priceless tomes.
Abilities & Strategy
Overview
Thrashbite the Scornful favors imprecise, sweeping attacks with little regard for his surroundings. Trick him into going toe to toe with something thicker than himself, though, and he just might lose his balance. Beware: this ancient library contains many magical tomes with unpredictable enchantments! On Mythic difficulty, Thrashbite unleashes the powers of the Wondrous Library each time he collides with a bookcase, bringing ancient animated tomes into the fray.
