I was just doing Marshal's refuge quest in Un'goro and 5 Guardian Stones dropped for me. I probably only killed 15 Guardians, so it shouldn't be too hard to farm now.
The price on these swings rapidly. One week, you can farm 10 of them and sell them for 200g, the next week, you farm 10 and you sell them for 50g.
Update: I just had 5 in a row, a miss, then 2 more drop (7/8) and then 6 in a row dropped. Just luck... you never know..
Drop rate:
I farmed these Guardian Stones from the Stone Guardian's in Ungoro Crater and took note of the drop rate out of my own curiousity. I'm almost afraid to post the results as they were amazing.
The first hour I received 31.
The second hour I received 36.
So, 67 in 2 exactly 2 hours. Along with the Stones, I received swords, helms, etc with list prices from 1gold to 3.5 gold, tons of grey items worth another 10gold (vendor price).Conclusion: I love farming these! The Stone Guardians are neutral so they won't gang up on you and won't attack while you rest. There are no other NPC's either, so it's safe. The range of items dropped is awesome: I even got Mithril Lockboxes!
From my experience, I'd say you should expect to make 30+ gold per hour farming these.
FYI: I had several streaks of 3 GS drops, 1 streak of 4 in a row. I also had a bunch of streaks without any GS drops.
