Fishing Pole

• The basic starting Fishing Pole • No Fishing Skill requirement • No Level requirement to equip • Only Usable for Fishing when trained in Apprentice Fishing

I left the staring level and went IF to learn cooking, fishing, and my two basic professions. Although the fishing pole has no level requirement. You can not learn fishing until level 5. You can not equip this fishing pole without fishing as a secondary skill. So even though the pole has no level requirement you can not use this until level 5 when you obtain fishing. I was a lock. You might be able to equip as a warrior or pally (at level 1) since they can use two-hand weapons.

I pulled of 5k dps on my rogue with this weapon

Great little pole for starting out fishing with. However I usually only use this till level 10 fishing and buy the [url=http://http://mop.wowhead.com/item=6365]Strong Fishing[/url] pole for the added fishing skill. They are in limited quantity and sometimes you cannot find it. Just come back to the fishing supplier and it will be there eventually. I'm going to guess that after someone buys it another one doesn't appear for about 30 minutes to an hour so if you see it just buy!

If anything they sell on the auction house for a few gold which is great from a 9 silver purchase.

FWIW, I disagree about the utility of the Strong Fishing pole. The bonus is too low, generally does not matter. I use a normal fishing pole with lures until I can get a much better pole.

■ [item=45858] reward from [quest=6607], [quest=13826] for people already completed this quest before the quest trainer for Artisan Fishing was removed in 3.1.0

■ [item=19970] reward from world event of Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza for to first player who catch [item=19807]x40 and give [npc=15077], completing [quest=8193], its is the best pole in game with high fishing skill.

■ [item=45992] low drop from [item=67414] (Fishing Quest Daily in Stormwind and Orgrimmar), even a lvl 10 can obtain this item, and [item=46007] (Fishing Quest Daily in Dalaran) you must be lvl 70 and got the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Also if you catch the [item=50289] but you are not the first person who completed it, you gain the bag in [quest=24806].

■ [item=45991] low drop from [item=67414], same work with [item=45992].

■ [item=84661] you can get it if you are revered with [faction=1302], require the Mists of Pandaria expansion.

■ [item=44050] can buy from [npc=32763] (Dragonblight) or [npc=31916] (Howling Fjord), you must be Exalted with [faction=1073], its the best pole with cool model and unique breathing underwater in game, you must have the expansion Wrath of the Lich King if you want this item.

■[item=116826] its a item sold by Nat Pagle from Garrison of Alliance in Shadowmoon Valley, you must unlock him in order to purchase it, counting with the lure it will increase 40 fishing skill, require the Warlords of Draenor expansion.

■[item=116825] Horde equivalent, but now it will sold in Frostfire Ridge on Garrison of Horde, require the Warlords of Draenor expansion.

■[[item=118381] has the high fishing skill on the game, however its temporarily in "online time" doenst depend of "character time played", fished from the waters of draenor, even a level low can adquire this item, require the Warlords of Draenor expansion.

Some itens removed or in database of game but you cant ever got: ■ [item=43651] this item appear in database of Lich King expansion, probably in patch 3.2 or 3.3, cannot be obtained in live realms.

■ [item=12225] is no longer available in game because the [npc=10216] disappear on events of cataclysm, so [item=46337] and the [npc=33175] replaced them.

R.I.P. Fishing pole

Fishing pole is no longer required to fish but they can still be usefull if they have skill bonus. Since this one has no skill bonus houver, I supose its R.I.P. indeed, unless you like the looks of it maybe? Edit: yes elvisdumbledore is quite right, still needed to use lures!

Just for reference. You still need some kind of a fishing pole in order to use lures.

Best DPS item in the game. Perfectly geared for all kinds of hunters.

Since the arrival of patch [url=http://www.wowhead.com/patchnotes=5.0.4]5.0.4[/url], there's been a change to fishing. You no longer need to equip a fishing pole to use the [skill=356] skill.

Just fished one up in tanaan jungle.... Had to come to check. :| Sad day.

Dragonflight update: This is now a profession tool which cannot be equipped or Transmogged. This comment will no longer be updated with the latest weapons so check my profile.

For all of your roleplay needs, I compiled a list of occupational tools for everyday heroes. Look at a weapon's "Item Versions" or "Same model as" tab for ones easier to obtain or a different color or weapon type. Higher levels can obtain Appearances for lower-level alts. If you want a quest Appearance from the opposite faction but do not have a character, use a Class Trial. Let me know if I missed a weapon! Good for bartenders, cooks, fishermen, farmers, lumberjacks, miners, blacksmiths, engineers, alchemists, and angry protesters.

I was fairly shocked to fish up a Fishing Pole from the river dividing Spires of Arak from Shadowmoon Valley right on the tail end of completing all the objectives for getting a level 3 garrison fishing shack. I came here to find that, yep, it's a thing!

This item is more useful than you might think. You can now fish without a fishing pole, but if you are just starting fishing, you will fish up junk until your fishing skill is sufficient to fish up fish; varies by location and this does not apply to fishing pools. If you want fish, not junk, say, for leveling cooking, a pole allows you to equip a lure, and lures grant a large bonus to fishing skill. (but take note, at least initially, junk has a higher vend value than fish) If you are routinely hurting for bag space, this item is cheap enough to toss and easily replace. There are a few quests that require you to hurt but not kill a mob, then generally apply some item to it. If you are having trouble not killing the mobs, try it with this pole equipped as your weapon.
