Drops in AQ. Note that they are not looted from the mobs: Mining nodes will appear around the corpse of the mobs.
Unfortunatly, the large ones have a poor drop rate in comparison to the small ones and even mining the Large Obsidian Chunks more often than not gives small ones instead of any large ones.
These mostly come from mineable nodes that spawn next to a mob when it dies, once per mob killed, and only from [npc=15340] in Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj and [npc=15277] in Temple of Ahn'Qiraj (found before and after the Twin Emperors).
The small chunks also have a small chance to drop Large Obsidian Shards, and they come from mineable nodes that spawn next to a mob when it dies, once per mob killed, and only from [npc=15355] just before Ossirin and [npc=15338], near Moam in Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj, and [npc=15264] in Temple of Ahn'Qiraj, at the entrance.
