Completed the Activation Protocol world quest on multiple alts in full (40 people) raid groups, and so far I've not seen anyone get a piece of gear drop from [npc=229334].
As the loot table from the PTR shows armour being dropped, in my view this quest is currently bugged, and I won't be completing it on any further alts until more information is available.
Just today I did it on my Shaman (4th Alt) and I got a 603 ilvl Champion Mail chest. I also haven't seen any other members in the raid groups receive gear on all my toons runs.
