This quest is unfortunately very easy to grief.
A single person running around tapping everything and refusing to loot it makes the quest an absolute nightmare.
Quest took around twenty minutes today because one guy tagged every single mob then refused to loot them until every player moved away so he could mine them all and finish, which couldn't have been coordinated even if all ten players there had been willing to just let him finish and leave, which of course they weren't.

Not that if you are capped on ancient mana, it will be very hard to get this quest done.
Most basilisk do drop at least one ancient mana, and if you can't loot that because you are capped, you also can't mine the basilisk corpse to get your quest items.
For those with Mining profession:
( I had level 2 in all 6 mining categories. )This "World Quest" popped up as i passed through the zone ( /way 33, 54 ) on Sept. 5th, the first week of Legion.
You have to kill the Felslate Basilisks that are found there and mine them once dead to collect 40 Felslate-Encrusted Spikes.
The reward?
Well in week one it was a whopping nothing! (see screenshot).
It just said " Felslate Basilisks completed."
No gold, no item, no Mining quest chain pop-up.
Nothing.(perhaps this unlocks the potential to progress to level 3 mining in some or all categories?)
I will report back if i learn more or to see if anyone else knows)
edit: someone in the zone PM'd me and said it helps get "more felslate from nodes", possibly thinking this might help you get to level 2 "living felslate" ?, but they didn't really seem to know what they were talking about when probed further
