Quest item dropped after mining first Felslate node that I found. Mined in Azsuna starting area.
Worth returning to Dalaran to turn in as it will increase the yield from future Felslate nodes.

This is one of three felslate sample quests that can be turned in to Mama Diggs. The other two are Felslate Seam Sample and Living Felslate Sample. Once all three felslate samples have been turned in, Mama Diggs will provide The Felsmiths.
The leystone sample counterpart is Leystone Deposit Sample. Likewise, there are also sample quests for leystone seams and living leystone (Leystone Seam Sample and Living Leystone Sample). Once all three leystone samples have been turned in, Mama Diggs will provide The Highmountain Tauren.

It took me 10 Felslate Deposit mines until I got the quest. On the contrary, I got Living Felslate Sample, Leystone Deposit Sample and Felslate Seam Sample on my first mine. It really is RNG, happens to herbs as well.
