TIP FOR THOSE STRUGGLING SOLO

Easy for some classes, very hard or perhaps impossible for others. Getting help is by far the easiest option, but it is possible to exploit this quest as follows:

UPDATED 21/03/2023 WITH BETTER REPRO STEPS

1. When the first wave fire elementals spawn, run away to the NORTH WEST. Single out and hit the closest mob to maintain its aggro, but DO NOT KILL IT.
2. When you get far enough away, the other two fire elementals will lose interest and return to their spawn points. STOP RUNNING and drag the mob you are fighting back toward the standing stones a little way.
3. After a few seconds, the other two fire elementals will despawn on their own. You can now kill the one you are fighting, which will trigger the wave of water elementals.
4. If you have run in the correct direction (in line with the row of small water elementals), two or three of the small water elementals should aggro on you, but not the big one. It's still doable if they do all aggro though.
5. As with steps 1 and 2, you want to single out just one of the elementals and tap it occasionally to keep its interest while running away. When the rest return to their spawn point, follow them back and wait for them to despawn before killing the one you are fighting.
6. You now have a few seconds to heal/eat/stealth before tackling the Earth elemental.

Did they not playtest this quest? Like, at all?

this fight makes me feel so incapable lol. so far of my 70's (f warr, arcmage, mm hunter, assassin rogue | did the quest on each under 70) they've all struggled and needed every life-saving ability in the kit to win. on my rogue, i attempted the other comment's suggestion of running west in the first wave til they lose interest, keeping aggro on one fire elemental. that did work for me but not how the comment described. i killed the one that stayed on me, pulled the second and killed it alone, and the third disappeared as the second wave started immediately. used indiscriminate carnage on that wave to get em out fast so i'd start the third wave (large earthen) with near full hp. he was no problem. his adds however were starting to hit pretty hard, but i noticed the quest had already marked as complete before i killed his adds. i vanished instead of fighting those and all went well, hopefully that works for anyone struggling. i believe i feigned for the final 3 adds as well on hunter and it worked.
