The Maw is a legendary pet encounter found north of Andu'talah in Val'sharah, and is only available to fight when his world quest, 'Meet the Maw', is available. His moves are Creepy Chomp, Devour and Siphon Life. The experience gain from this fight is insignificant and it's not worth leveling pets with.
Pets
To beat the Maw, I used my Emerald Proto-Whelp (Breath/Emerald Presence/Proto-Strike), Emerald Whelpling (Breath/Emerald Presence) and Yu'la, Broodling of Yu'lon (Breath/Emerald Presence/Lift-off). You only need one of these three green dragons- put one of them in your first slot and then bring any two other pets with Dragonkin damage for backup. Yu'la in particular will have a speed advantage over the Maw so bring that if you have one.Strategy
On round 1, use Emerald Presence, then Proto-Strike, then spam Breath. Refresh your Emerald Presence Buff as needed to maintain it, and spam Breath to work down his health. Try and time a Proto-Strike (or Lift-off with Yu'la) to get out of the way of Devour when your health gets within killing-blow range if possible, but no sweat if you miss it. Keep mashing Breath with Emerald Presence up and he should go down without trouble.A full video guide of the strategy I've laid out can be found here. Hope this helps!
