And on a map.
This is actually a bit of a tough quest for a starting character. After placing the crystal, quite a few shades appear and attack the crystal. With a young priest character I have not been able to kill all shades, but it's not actually needed to slay them. You can kite them until a minute is up and you get the "completed" message. Then just run away and turn in the quest.

What to do
Description
Ancient runestones once powered a protective barrier across the Eversong border. Many were destroyed during Arthas' attack; others were stolen. Of the three that remain, only this one has retained its powers. The runestone to the east might be salvageable, though. Take this crystal and instill its energy on the Eastern Runestone. The process should take but a minute. Beware though, nearby Scourge will be drawn to it and will seek to destroy it. Do not let them!

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits
Before this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- Defending Fairbreeze Village
We've experienced a marked increase in Scourge attacks, <name>. Our defenses are barely holding and there's no sign of reinforcements from Silvermoon City. Lend us a hand in defending the village by thinning the numbers of the undead roaming the Dead Scar nearby.

Sunsail Anchorage has been overrun by Wretched scum. As soon as we manage to get reinforcements to the area we'll show those thugs who's boss, <name>. In the meantime you can help by showing them a bit of discipline. Go in there and show them we are not to be trifled with.
