TheWoWDBHello! Are you unable to turn in the quest? Here is what you do to make sure you can turn it in.
The boss in question is Erunak Stonespeaker with Mindbender Ghur'sha on his head. Mindbender Ghur'sha is the enemy who needs to be killed, and Erunak is the Earthspeaker you need to rescue.
If you one-shot the boss, Mindbender Ghur'sha will hop off of Erunak's head, releasing him from mind control. If you then immediately kill Mindbender Ghur'sha, you will not be able to turn in the quest to Erunak. He will remain kneeling there with no yellow question mark over his head.
What you do is you one-shot the boss, making Mindbender Ghur'sha release Erunak, and then you stop all damage. Don't one-shot the boss with an attack that leaves DOTS (damage-over-time, IE an attack that will continue to damage the boss after the initial attack), and remove any buffs that cause damage to melee enemies (for example Lightning Shield). One-shot the boss with an auto-attack (right click only), and then immediately stop attacking, leaving Mindbender Ghur'sha at, like, 1% health.
One second is all you need.
When Mindbender Ghur'sha releases Erunak, Erunak will kneel, and then a grey question mark will appear above his head. At this point, Mindbender Ghur'sha is probably casting Terrifying Vision. You may hide behind a pillar to avoid this attack, or you can kill Mindbender Ghur'sha as soon as you see that grey question mark above Erunak's head. As soon as Mindbender Ghur'sha is dead, the grey question mark becomes yellow, and you can turn in the quest.
This has been working for me my five last runs, and I plan to run this dungeon with many alts, meaning I will be double, triple, quadruple-checking that this method works!

Does anyone else think it's weird that this quest doesn't award Earthen Ring rep?
"Oh yeah great job you rescued Erunak, but eh, that doesn't make us feel any better about you as a person."
From my experience, you have to finish Defending the Rift for this quest and Sins of the Sea Witch to appear. I'm guessing this is because before Defending the Rift happens Erunak isn't sucked in to the Abyssal Maw and Naz'jar didn't summon Ozumat (or enter the Abyssal Maw), even though you can queue and finish this dungeon if you have discovered the instance without finishing the quest.
