There's no need to pull the Silkfeather Hawks OUT of the sky (unless you are so inclined). I found many perched on top of boulders at ground level. I even found one in combat with a friendly NPC and took over the fight, for the loot. These hawks drop up to 18 feathers at a time, so a total of 80 didn't take long.
