This is the obligatory Everything is Broken quest of the patch. It should be simple-click the Succulent Looking Deepcaps, feed them to Redolent Whelks then click on the Slime Sheathed Shells they spawn.
However, the spawn rate on the deepcaps and whelks are far too low. The extra button from the deepcaps disappear as soon as you cast any ability-including movement buffs and mounting up. They are also lootable server-wide rather than per-person so everyone in the area is fighting over them. Even worse, the shells from the whelks are also lootable server-wide, so after all the work of getting them to drop someone else can dive it and nab it from you.
Hopefully this is all fixed because it's basically unpleasant to play.
Horrible world quest. No clear instructions on how to do wq so players just kill mobs thinking that will do it, low spawn rate of mobs, buff that cannot be mounted with so you have to run around with, and quest item is not shareable so other players can take them right under your nose.
I have no idea how this made it to live in this state....
The buff should NOT expire
They need to severely up the spawn rate of the snails or allow multi tagging (ie dont despawn instantly, maybe have 30 seconds and anyone with the buff can throw it and get a shell too)Why are quests like these even a thing? I've seen so much toxic behaviour from people in the 10 minutes of trying to do this quest. If a quest makes people aggressive and uncooperative then the quest designers/devs really need to re think some things about it.

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

/way #2133 60.8 67.6Map coordinates of the pins above. An area the client draws as a shape is given by the centre of its points.
Quests whose map markers the client places closest to this one on Zaralek Cavern, nearest first. Distances are straight lines between the markers.
Flight points closest to the quest’s first objective area marker on Zaralek Cavern:
Straight-line distances in yards between the quest’s own map markers (QuestPOI) and the client’s flight-point positions (TaxiNodes); flight paths and terrain are not modelled.
Creature, object and item facts from the current retail client; “also asked for by” lists other quests whose objectives name the same target. Prices are the US commodity auction house’s lowest listed price.
First seen in build 12.0.7.68887 (Midnight patch 12.0.7, the oldest build in our datamine).
Steps, storylines and map placement from the client’s QuestLine, prerequisite and QuestPOI data; neighbouring quest text is Blizzard’s own (quest API), shortened to its opening sentences.
