Posting this here as well:
It seems that Shamans casting Greater Healing Wave immediately after the completion of the gravestone timer will cause the hostile spirit to not spawn. I've tested this myself on four different days of doing the daily and haven't had a spawn anytime I've used GHW - any other spell, however, results in a spawn from my observances.

I need you to travel to Forgotten Hill, due west of here and release our brothers in arms' tortured souls away from this place.
