The poles are like any "vehicle" on WoW. Simply mouse over them until you see the green arrow, then click to "jump" your toon from pole to pole until you reach the bell. Once you are close to the bell, you are auto dismounted from the pole and you will land near the bell. Click on the bell.
Beware of falling in as the cranes will attack you! The quest warns to not fall off the pole or you will have to restart, however the one time I "fell off" i was easily able to jump back on the poles and finish the quest with no problem.

OMG. Don't be stupid like me. This quest is easy. Don't go in the water. The water turns you into a frog and the cranes think of you as a tasty snack. Instead, there are shorter poles on either end of the bridge. They're called "Exit Poles". You can click on them when you're out of the water. The water isn't your friend.
If you happen to be in the water, you can try and jump on the reeds sticking out, turning you back into normal form. During that split second, click on one of the balancing poles.
The Lesson of Dry Fur confirmed! Incredibly easy but never would've figured it out. Leave the quest giver and stay in the pond. Go under the bridge and when you mouse over the pillars they will have a green "mount" arrow.

What to do
Description
Through meditation, I intend to find a route to locating Shu. In the meantime, you would benefit from practice and discipline. Your first task is the task of all trainees entering the pools: cross the balance poles to the west and ring the bell without falling into the pool. Should you fall, the pool's curse will make it difficult to get on a pole again, so you will need to return to the edge of the pool to start over. Oh, and beware the cranes.
Where to go
Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Where this quest fits
Before this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- The Singing Pools
It is crucial that we bring all of the three remaining spirits back safely. I am too old to do this myself, and for all their strengths, both Aysa and Ji are single-minded in their ideals. You possess all the qualities of a hero, and a balance that they do not. It is you that must do this.
After this quest
Taken from the storyline's own step order.
- The Lesson of the Balanced Rock
I require peace to perform my meditation. Practice your arts while I meditate on Shu's location. Other monks practice balance and combat upon the balance poles in the surrounding pools. Engage them and defeat them.
