TheWoWDBActually, there's no need to go through all of that trouble. Just right-click any herb you approach and you'll start harvesting it. Shift + Right-click will auto-loot the herb(s) for you.

Sometimes it's the roots that are the best part. If you just rip it up, you might leave them in the ground. A good herbalist also knows that bruised herbs can spoil the alchemical properties of the herbs so taking care to dig them up properly will be more beneficial in the long run. Or something. =P
